Northgate High School
Principal's Message: May 13, 2009
Dear Northgate Community,
2nd Annual School Clean-Up day a phenomenal success!
On March 21st the first ladies of Northgate Cleanup stepped up with another amazing effort. Donna Warnken-Brill, Shawn Miller, Spalding Ashley, Patty Proctor, and Linda Middleton led almost 550 Northgate students, parents and staff in a massive clean-up/painting in our school. The school looked so sharp I hated to let any one in on Monday! If you see these miracle workers, give them a well-deserved thank you!
PFC Spring Fling April 4, 2009 at Walnut Creek Marriott, Raises $30,000.00 for Northgate High.
Speaking of amazing parents who come through in big ways for Northgate High, Jenny Crosthwaite, Margot Chafetz, Cindy Lentz, Ann Sussman, Mary Phalon, and Monica Fitzgerald pulled off the Northgate social event of the year with almost no planning time. For the two hundred parents and teachers in attendance, the first annual PFC Spring Fling was a resounding success. Better yet, the generous attendees spent $30,000.00 in auction bids, with all proceeds going to the academic program at Northgate High. All who attended deserve our thanks, but the big six who pulled this off really shined for all our students!
Theft is a problem at Northgate.
Northgate is a great community with smart, respectful, kind students, but we are not perfect. We have a continuing problem at Northgate that needs your attention, the problem of theft. Our students have suffered many thefts in the gym locker rooms this year, unfortunately, many of these thefts occur because students leave their back backs on a bench with valuables in them which are stolen. Please help with our problem in the following ways:
- Please tell your students to secure all valuables on their persons at all time
- The P.E. Coaches provide a space in their office to lock things up during class; students need to take advantage of this!
- Please talk to your children about theft, both to protect their property and to make sure they are not participating in theft; we never believe our children could do this, yet it occurs.
- If your student is a victim of theft please (remind them to) report it to the teacher, then come to the office and fill out a theft report.
Open House showcases Northgate talent, more to come, do not miss it!
Thank you to all the students, parents, and teachers who joined together to make our annual Open House a great success. Student artwork adorned the halls, brilliantly showcasing the immense talent our students and staff possess. The Jazz band jammed in the band room, getting ready for their headline gig at Yoshi's in Oakland Tuesday, May 19th at 8 and 10 PM. If you have not made your reservations you will want to, this is one of the top events of the year! In addition, our multi-talented Dance Production program, under the direction of dance sensation Raquel Del Fiorentino, will thrill audiences, Wednesday, May 13 - Sat May 16, in our Theatre, do not miss it!
The students and teachers at Northgate continue to do great things every day. If you have any questions or issues regarding our school please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for all your support!
